On July 1, 1992 Vulcan Power Company filed applications to lease lands in the Military Pass area of Mt Shasta in the Shasta-Trinity National Forest near Weed, California. Vulcan Power devoted significant resources in time and expenses developing its project between July 1992 and November 2009 seeking to obtain these leases from the Bureau of Land Management and the U.S. Forestry Service.
Due to the Forest Service’s recommendation that the BLM reject Vulcan’s lease applications, which was confirmed on appeal of the BLM’s rejection of the lease applications, Vulcan Power Company elected to cease its efforts to obtain leases in the Mt. Shasta area.
