colado, nevada

The Colado leases are located 7 miles northeast of Lovelock, Nevada. This prospect is situated northeast of the Brady Hot Springs and Desert Peak geothermal power projects which have reported geothermal temperatures in the 400ºF range. Both Brady Hot Springs and Desert Peak plants are producing electricity under long term contracts. The Vulcan CEO was a geothermal pioneer developer at Brady Hot Springs.
An estimated $3.4 million of prior exploration work was completed in the area. Dr. Jim Combs estimated Vulcan Colado leases can produce 97 MW to 203 MW.
The Colado Geothermal Prospect is one of several high-temperature geothermal systems located along a northeast southwest structural zone of higher temperature geothermal systems running through western Nevada. The area is a concealed resource, i.e. there are no known surface indications such as hot springs or fumeroles. The geothermal system was identified as the result of drilling water wells and mine shafts in the area.
A 110 kV transmission line crosses the Vulcan leases.
